Getting the Most Out of Your Test Drive
The test drive might be the most important part of the car buying process. At So Cal Motors, we want to get you behind the wheel of a car you’ll love for years and years. That starts with a proper test drive of the vehicle. We encourage our customers to not just drive one vehicle and to be sure to take their time with each one. Here are some tips for getting the most out of your test drive.
Focus on Your Every Day
This means you should drive the roads that you’ll drive to work, etc. Drive on the highway if you do highway driving often. If you have children, bring them (and their car seats) along for the test drive too! If you can, take the car home over night to test it out in your garage or driveway. All of this ensures that the car you choose actually fits your everyday needs.
Really Check the Space
If there’s something you haul often, bring it with you to check it out in the space you’re test driving. Bring your diaper bag, work supplies, etc. to make sure that the vehicle’s space truly works for your needs. Like to camp? Bring some of your camping gear to load up. You get the idea. We don’t mind if you want to be thorough. In fact, we encourage it.
Be Confident Driving the Vehicle
What makes you uncomfortable on the road? Test them out in the vehicle you’re test driving. Parallel park, slam on your brakes, or make an incredibly sharp turn. You want to be sure the vehicle handles in a way that you’re comfortable with. Do what you need to do (within reason) to ensure you’ll feel safe and comfortable in your vehicle.
Get Comfy in the Vehicle
Features are important but at the end of the day, you want to be comfortable in your vehicle. Make sure you and your passengers can get in and out of the vehicle comfortably and easily. Check that the instruments on the dashboard are easy to reach and use. Adjust the seat to just your liking to make sure it suits you. On your everyday commute, these things will matter.
